My simple, straight-line machine quilting is finished–front and back photos below–and I’m working on the binding. This quilt should be finished soon if I can get past that dreaded binding join.

I do this simple method for binding join and there’s a You Tube that shows the method I do-seems like the easiest method to me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ot7Trk6J2Vw You’re almost done-that was fast! Your friend is lucky to know you and get a quilt!
You are speedy. Don’t fret about joining the binding. A no-fail technique involves cutting an extra 2.5″ (or whatever your binding width measures) beyond the point where the two pieces meet. Then join those 2 edges on the bias, checking you haven’t twisted either piece. After sewing the diagonal seam, trim, leaving a 1/4″ seam allowance and press. Voila! Works every time, no sweat.
There’s nothing like a simple straight line quilting I say! Looks wonderful. The binding should be a breeze. Liz’s comment above works, I have tried it and now use it for all my bindings. What color are you going to use for the binding??
The quilting is lovely–elegant and simple. If you are worried about the binding join you can always do it straight and just butt the ends together. It isn’t quite as “pretty” but the quilt police will not be watching you. And it will be done.
I even have trouble with “simple” straight line quilting! So far I’ve only machine quilted on small projects like table runner and a doll quilt. I’m not sure I have the patience for it tho.

Joining the binding….a chore indeed! I have to get out the directions I got from a workshop to do the “nice looking” join. Hers are the only ones I can understand!!! Nice job and how exciting to be finishing up.
